Question Is Delaware fish edible?

Is it true that fish caught in Delaware waters is not edible? This is info I heard. Fact or fiction?

Thanks for the info. We are moving from one fishing community to another. Our whole family enjoys fishing. Not really fond of catch and release. It's nice to know that we can actually eat what we catch. Nothing better than freshly caught fish.

movn2del......Not having time to fish (me) and having no interest in fishing (him)....... for many years, we went to Frenchie's Dock in North Bowers Beach to buy fresh fish, right off of the boat. Frenchie cleans, weighs and wraps them right in front of you. With a death in our family last Spring we didn't do many of the things we typically did, but hopefully, he's still in business. His little 12' x 12'+/- store is right along the bay, with a dock (Frenchie's Dock ). He's such a nice guy, and has been the Mayor of North Bowers. Don't have an update on that, though which is totally irrelevant to this thread!

Farther south at Indian River Inlet, they do the same thing.....off the boat, on to the wooden cleaning table, on to the scale......Bingo! Fresh Fish!

For you, there are many, many places for fishermen. I'm sure you've heard of them all, but if you need other info, let me know!

Delly, you have wonderful and plentiful information. Be assured that once I'm in Delaware, I will PM you for further information and perhaps a face-to-face. You are a woman who is worth knowing, and I look forward to our meeting.

Thank you, movn2del! You are very kind, and I look forward to meeting you, and many others on here. As you know, I love talking about Delaware, and offering what I know.....sometimes to the point of being annoying, maybe. But one thing leads to another, and before I know it, I'm rambling on and on. I'm sure you know a lot about where you were born and raised, also, and you would do the same for newcomers. All of these years here in the same place, and the traveling I do north, south, east, and west in Delaware, in regard to my daily work, makes for an abundance of trivia I want to share.

Actually, Delly, you'd be surprised to find there are a lot of people who know very little about where they live. I happen to feel, at this point in time, that I know more about Delaware than I know of New York. I live about 40 minutes from Manhattan and my children have never been to Ellis Island or the Statue of Liberty. I haven't been to the Statue of Liberty since I was a kid. I worked on Ellis Island when they did the renovation. If I have information that others are interested in, however, I would be very happy to pass it along. I don't find you annoying at all. I love reading your posts.
Sorry to go off topic, I think we should keep this one for the fish.

Hey gang! I was dad's fishin' buddy when I was a kid in Va Beach, so does that qualify me for the DE Fishin' Club? I'll tell ya, I am daddy's girl, so I never got the hang of baiting with live bait... but I used to cast a mean line into the surf!

Hubby loves to fish, but has no time... yet another thing we need to be sure to do soon.

Mary
