Default For Summering....Restaurants for vacations at the beach...

Summering, as I'm sure you know, Rehoboth has tons of restaurants. The problem is parking.

In the Bethany area, the first one that came to mind is De Febo's. It's west of route 1 on rt. 26....very close to Grotto's....sorta catercorner from the WAWA. We've had some excellent, classy, Italian food there on the dining side.

Bethany Blues, in old Bethany, has great ribs.

I think Bear Trap has their own restaurant, but I don't know anything about it.

If they like Mexican, they could try Tequila Mockingbird in OC. It's around 129th Street. Great fresh salsa!

Rockky, love De Febo's, though I think it has been a couple years. I wonder if they still serve lunch too. (?)

I don't know, annieblue. It seems so long since I was there. Most places open for lunch in season. I think De Febo's closes out of season.

We are going down to the house next week. I need a ocean beach fix. We will walk back to the state lands, go through the woods to the bay and watch the sun set. It's one of the most beautiful places to view a sunset I've ever seen....and I've seen a few around the world. sigh

Summering, for a quick, not-real-healthy but yummy stop, take a run back to Al Cassapola's (sp?). Really good subs. They moved from Millville years ago. They are back on rt. 26 in a little strip mall before you get to get to Gerald Hocker's grocery store. Right beyond the little place where JustDesserts used to sell cheesecakes...I think it's a landscaping place now. How's that for DE directions.

Harpoon Hannah's was always my favorite....may be the worse for wear these days, with all the young party crowd. I'm going to have to hit that place for lunch, because I'm working down that way next week. It's on the border of Ocean City, Rt. 54, across the bridge, about a mile off Rt. 1. You locals know that!

Oh, another one I liked years ago, mostly for coctails, snacks and live musics...Fager's Island.

Oh Wow, my own Food thread...........The kids are gonna' kid me to death......I am so thrilled though
Rockky, that is my kind of directions also......exactly.......drives the SIL nuts. LOL
I am making a list........Summerings Restaurant List for Bethany Beach.
Yes, Bear Trap does have a restaurant.....but........will the golfers love hearing two little, noisey kids. Sorry, they are so young and hard to keep
quiet. But I did need a good place for the parents, and I hope to get to that Beach Cafe with the kids........this is great.
De Febos sounds wonderful..........
Can I just add one thing......We pretty much don't eat any fish but tuna
Oh how sad, for such an ocean lover

Gosh, yes we know many by Rehoboth and Millsboro, but not in the Bethany area.....so this is a great help. We are usually in Angola Bay and that goes under Lewes.
I remember eating at the Rusty Rudder in Dewey. And.........just over the border of Fenwick was the outdoor place with the Pirate Ride. Yes, Summering took the pirate ride with "two Pirates" that were as happy as a lark. Bandanas and all........heading out for treasures. Cannons! They absolutely loved that. Now, that was so cute for kids.......we didn't eat at that place, because we already had.......but, it looked interesting.
You know what the one little fellow liked to do? Play that chess game that is "lifesize" in the breezeway of the Main St. of Rehoboth. Gosh, he had adults sitting near rooting him on.........and what a cute idea. He could barely move the pieces, they were bigger then him.........( yes, he was great at the game at six, and I don't even know how to play!)
These two, were a different two then the little tykes going with us this time...........( in other words, we will have quite little ,little fellows this time around)

Only tuna, huh? Welll, there is Fat Tuna, again, on Rt. 26. Use to be a lumber yard. And since it use to be a lumber yard, the acoustics are not the best. Sound really travels in that place. They do have a covered patio on the east side.

Summering, are you going in the deep summer (after July 4th), or sooner?

The Cottage Cafe is on Rt. 1 across from Sea Colony. I watched the most magnificent thunder and lighting storm from there one night. It looked so ominous coming up over the high rise.

If Magnolia's pub was still good ole' Maggie's, I'd suggest there. But, it's gone and changed into a more high end establishment. Lordy, I miss the old place!

You will find the regular, family style restaurants on Garfield Parkway in old Bethany. For the kids, Grotto's or Al's will work. Another place that would have been good for the kids....Gartside in Roxanna. Also gone. sigh... I miss the old days.

Big Fish is the place to be see and be seen if you are a Delaware mover and shaker. It's south of the outlets, but it's before the curve into Dewey...on the right going south.

Of course you get your own food thread!! Why the heck not!!??!!!

So your a BIG FISH if you go to the Big Fish Restaurant.........
I don't think the "fish "in there are gonna' want to hear two little yelpers

Fat Tuna sounds good for me, but..........hubby likes no fish, nor the smell of a fish restaurant. OH lolololololol.............And here we are big sea lovers, and ocean town fanatics. I could sneek in there "myownself" and drop hubby at a Hot Dog Cart.

Actually no, not July ( which is the usual) but..........June 7th to the 14th. Whooowee, only a month away.

Now I am extremely excited about Bear Trap. I love the information coming this way also. Looks like it is best to go to Fenwick St Park. I know right where that is.
Better off we drive there, then the jitney........in case the kids get tired and the ole' jit doesn't show up.

Your all so helpful..........and thanks to Rockky for helping me out with starting this....
( sweet lady) Delaware people are the BEST. ( ah, I have to love PA and SC too ...or they will disown me)

Ahhh, things won't be too crowded yet. What you might find are the 'June Bugs'.....the high school kids who go down for graduation parties. Most of them may be gone until you get there as well. They are mainly in OC and Dewey.

If you feel like walking the beach nearly alone, drive north to just before Dewey. Pull in at Key Box and/or Tower Beaches. If you wait until after 6:00 pm there isn't a fee. You may see some fishermen and a few other walkers that time of day. They close the gates at dusk, but dusk isn't until after 8:00 in June.

I'm going down this week. If I see anything new and exciting, I'll let ya know!
