Default Natural Mkts in Newark DE?

Hello-

I may be relocating here and I am bummed to learn there is not a Whole Foods. I did a search and the nearest one is in Penn approx 28 miles away!

My question is, what other nat markets (if any) are around there that have good selections in food & other products like a Whole Foods carries.

Also, are there any vegetarian resturants around there?

Thanks for your help.

I haven't moved to Newark yet, but when I put my potential future address in the following web site, it gave me all the grocery stores, including some natural ones:

Walk Score - Helping homebuyers, renters, and real estate agents find houses and apartments in great neighborhoods.

Enter your address and it lists all (most) businesses within walking distance, such as groceries, libraries, etc. and rates the neighborhood based on its 'walkability'.

Try chowhound.com for additional help with your restaurant question.

The Newark Natural Foods Co-op is on Main Street. Admittedly, I haven't been there for several years (I live in Dover), but I thought the selection was good. As I recall, there was a farmers market associated with it at certain times, though perhaps not at that location. Check them out. They can likely tell you about vegetarian restaurants too. (Some of the local restaurants have, or used to have, good vegetarian entrees.)
