Harrington, Delaware
My husband and I are planning to retire in Delaware. We have just begun to look. We heard about Harrington, Delaware on the radio. Any opinion about this city?
Thanks for you help.

What I have seen of Harrington, it seems like a charming, small Delaware town. We live outside the Camden area, and have only been to Harrington a handful of times. One thing... you'd be convenient to the raceway/casino complex, and of course, the fairgrounds!

Retiring to Delaware
VickiN,
We are, also retiring to Delaware at the end of next year. We bought a home in Heritage Shores in Bridgeville, which is approximately 10 miles further south of Harrington. We are very pleased with our choice, as we are within a reasonable driving distance to major shopping, the beaches, and the casinos. Take a look.

Thanks for your replies. We just bought a house in Lewes, DE. The community is Nassau Grove. Got a great deal on one of the inventory homes.

Hi VikiN. Yep, Harrington is a charming small town. And the state fair is there every summer, casino and horsetrack too. It's about 20-25 minutes south of Dover, the state capital where most of the shopping is in central Delaware. The town of Milford is not too far away either. There's a number of nice 55+ communities in the broad area of central Delaware. I always tell folks coming here from out of state that some communities in Delaware have lot leases rather than owning the land. Adds a couple hundred on to payments each month. It's right for some people and others don't like it, but you should always ask. My suggestion would be to explore Dover, Harrington, Milford and Milton if you think you like that area. If you have family in, say, Jersey, some people prefer to look in the Smyrna area, just inside of Kent county but further north than Dover or Harrington.

Hi VikiN,
Congratulations on the new home! I've driven past Nassau Grove on the way to Rehobeth; quite convenient area! Stay in touch, let us know how your move progresses, and welcome to DE!

Hi everyone,
Thank you for all of your well wishes. We are very excited about becoming citizens of Delaware! We have a golden retriever who is also excited about the move. More folks to pet him!
