Default Surf & Rescue - Dewey Beach

Did anyone catch this new series on TruTV? It's a 30 minute show depicting the Dewey Beach PD and Beach Patrol chasing drunks 24/7. Not a very attractive depiction of the area I must say.

I've seen shows shot in San Diego, Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. It's all about drunks doing stupid things and ending up getting carted away. It's not a travel log.

Is this show any different?

Hi rossc,

I have not seen the episode, but jskirwin has a point... the nature of the show does not lend to depicting the best side of any of the beach areas.

Sadly, it seems no matter WHAT beach area, there seems to be an attraction to the shore and folks gettin' drunk and acting like fools. Add to the mix the thought of them being on vacation (and far away from their "regular" lives, reputation, etc), and stranger things certainly happen!

A big part of the reason why I prefer to visit the beaches off season!

Mary

That's about it. Makes the area look like it's infested with drunks and drug dealers.

TRU-TV is pretty much 24/7 "Cops" and other "reality" shows centering around crime. The shows take place everywhere, and I wouldn't take offense at their filming in Dewey.

Delaware beaches are some of the best features of our state; I find them to be quite sublime in autumn and winter when the crowds are gone. Given the development and the cost of real estate along them, I don't think TRU-TV is going to damage their reputation all that much.

Besides, Dewey has always had a bit of a rowdy side that Fenwick and Bethany never had.
