IMO it's the best hotel in Rehoboth. It's basically a very posh B&B. The nicest rooms are on the 4th floor, the Club level. They don't allow anyone under 21 up there, so it's very quiet. The furnishings of the hotel and guest rooms (at least I can vouch for the 4th fl. rms) are lovely. They have a nice buffet breakfast in the morning, in beautiful surroundings, and they serve tea in the late afternoon. There are, of course, numerous restaurants of all kinds and calibres in Rehoboth, as well as some nice shops -- galleries, decorator studios/exclusive home furnishings, etc. Rehoboth has a completely mixed or diverse character as far as its patronage, but I will throw in that my silly neighbor from Pittsburgh found it "too gay" (his implication was that it is almost exclusively so, which is very far from reality). I tried to challenge this misperception before realising that the guy must have issues. Anyway, if that's the case for anyone, be warned -- there's an actual gay presence in Rehoboth Beach, along with every other population group on the East Coast.
Doctorjef.........we moved to DE almost two years ago and love driving to Rehobeth everyone once in a while on off season.

I didnt' know rehobeth had a large gay community until we moved here then we were informed.
This doesn't bother me one iotota. But we never noticed and don't see why it is a big deal.

I have to agree with doctorjef that the Bellmoor is wonderful. Our family chooses the Boardwalk Plaza Hotel sometimes because of the oceanfront rooms. It's lovely to be able to sit on a sofa in your room and look out at the sea.

Great restaurants in Rehoboth indeed, and some that usually close until spring are still open, at least on weekends for part of the fall.

Rehoboth is for everyone. We've never objected to the presence of gays. In general, it's a family town, whatever your family is like.

Ditto with Lewes recommendations, and with the northern Delaware comments as well. Winterthur is wonderful, and if you've never been to Longwood Gardens, just a short distance away in PA, you shouldn't miss it.

Regarding something to do on a Saturday in northern DE -- if you are into trains, especially steam engines, there is the Wilmington and Western Railroad, which runs trains between Prices Corner and Hockessin. The longest journey is a 2 & 1/2 hr roundtrip. There are shorter options as well. Check out the railroad's website. You travel through beautiful woodlands -- very nice in autumn (I just did this today and will probably do so again later in the Fall).

mswood is on a distinguished road
That weekend the Sea Witch Festivle is in Rehoboth Beach. That is the beach area. There will be different things to do in town and good food. That probably is your best bet.

What's the Sea Witch Festival? I will definitely be in Rehoboth that weekend.

OK, I see, Seawitch Festival is basically the Halloween-Fall festival in Rehoboth. Certainly should make Rehoboth livelier that weekend for an off-season time.
