I only lived in DE for a brief time, during college. I left to further my education at another university. But I do remember my college days and the State fondly. when not in class, I spent alot of time mountain biking throughout northern DE. I often tell people that DE has some of the best and most scenic trails around, and no one knows about them. I love the Brandywine area.

Right now I'm established in Charlotte, mostly because my wife's family lives here, but I could see myself moving back to DE at some point.

It was indeed a nice, safe place to grow up and DELAWAREANS ARE THE NICEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD, but I felt there was a bigger world out there that I was missing out on. Delaware was too slow, too boring, too...blah! I knew I'd have to leave--even if I returned later on to retire.

So, I left and discovered that big world out there.

And, I'm so glad I did!!!!

As stated in my first thread, I've grown a bit homesick and will likely return "home", but at least I know about and experienced the world out there. More importantly, I now know how to access it.

Many Delawareans live and die in that beautiful state. And that is fine. Nothing wrong with going to highschool, marrying the guy/gal next door, and having a family. OR...

If you're really progress (by DE standards) you graduate HS, go to UD, meet a nice guy/gal, graduate and get yourself a nice job with the state, marry that guy/gal and have kids.

HOWEVER, that was not the life I saw for myself.

I wanted to LIVE A LITTLE--SEE THE WORLD!!!

And I did!
That is great that you followed your desire to explore and see new places. It is a great way to learn new ideas and ways of doing things. A great way to meet new people who can share their life stories.
You only live once so follow your dreams.

I never moved from the state I live in but I do enjoy exploring other places and learning about other cultures, I've always thought it would nice to try living in another state.
