Default When do the riverbanks turn into shoreline?

I'm not good with Central DE at all, and I was just wondering at what point does a muddy, murky riverline give way to a sandy beach down Delaware's coastline?

Is Bowers beach truly a beach, or something in between?

Hi Joe,

Bowers is the Delaware bay. And yes, I would say it is a small beach.

It's a beach but I'm not sure I would swim in it. Gets a little murky at times.

Hi Joe,

I'd agree with kat196 about Bowers... it seems to be much more a "bayside" marina port sort of beach. While the sandy area is fine for walking, I don't think I would want to swim in the waters. Having grown up in Va Beach, Bowers seems very much like a small cove to me.

Nice little area, but not a good swimming hole!

Mary

About swimming beaches... so Bowers is sandy, sometimes murky? Is it lifeguarded?
How far a drive from Dover to get the nearest "clean" beach.
Thinking of relocating to Delaware, but "need" a beach to swim.
I swim in Long Island sound... sometimes murky, sometimes not.
Any info appreciated.

Not sure about Bowers because I have never had the urge to swim there and im not sure why any one would...From Dover you can get to Lewes and Cape Henlopen State Park which are very swimmable in about 25 or thirty minutes
