Default Help us in our commute from DC

me and my wife moved to DC recently. She is looking for a job here but in the meanwhile she has to work from wilmington DE. She has to go3-4 times a week.

She drives everytime but it really breaks my heart when she comes back to home and she is very tired. Going by amtrak everyday is very expensive and we can't afford it.

in fact we can't afford either of us quitting jobs either.

Please help with any possible solutions we'll really appreciate it.

That is a really long way. Is she Joe Biden? You might want to look at the train like he did, and that still takes a long time.

I think the OP said that the train commute was unaffordable. I think what's needed is a carpool. I'm not sure where or how you could arrange that. Craigslist?

But you know, that Biden idea while half-baked might actually have a kernel of merit. There might be some low level staff people in the Delaware congressional delegation who might need to commute regularly back to Delaware. Or barring that, maybe they would have some ideas of where to look for a fellow carpooler. Just an idea.

rickdc, I just did a quick google using the keywords, "car pool, Wilmington,DE to Washington DC" and came up with several hits. This one looked interesting - http://www.carpoolworld.com/carpool_..._submit=Submit one more http://www.erideshare.com/

Although they are working on it, there is currently no regional connection between SEPTA and MARC, so your only cheap option is by bus really.

If I was her, I would go Chinatown from Philly. She drives a half hour, hops on an hourly bus, snoozes for a couple hours, and is in DC. It's around 20 bucks round trip.

People who say negative things about Chinatown are most likely racist. Every time I have been on a greyhound, it has been nastier, slimier, less punctual, and worse smelling than a Chinatown bus; You'll run into people who hate Chinatown Buses.
