Hi everyone I'm relocating to DE and I'm looking at apartments, and I stumbled across Friendship Village Apartments. They are GORGEOUS, and what I've seen about the town Harington, it's a good town. I'm from NJ, and maybe that's why I think it's too good to be true, but does anyone know anything about these apartments? I searched for reviews on Google and got nothing...ANY info would be greatly appreciated. If not, any reccomendations of great, SAFE (I have a 3 year old!) apartments near Wilmington would be more than appreciated.

You're right, I did a google search and came up with no reviews. Make sure you add the second "r" in Harrington if you search again. Harrington is in southern Kent County - not all that close to Wilmington.

Hi Tara429 My name is JerseyGirl1982 I just took a trip down to Delware myself on Wednesday, I am a current Jersey resident and I have a seven year old, This will be my first place on my own in a different state. I started out with research on a few places, somewhere around ten properties. by the time I was done I was down to only four apartments that I found on Craig's list and rent.com. I reaserched them on google as well with no reviews on three of them. and one negative review on a place in Maryland. I drove down with my mom and daughter Wednesday morning and visited two out of the three in Delaware. I was not impressed at all . when I got to the second apartment I was told of a sister complex that was not too far away, so that added an unscheduled visit, I was somewhat impressed with that one but only the outside . My last stop of the day was Friendship Village. My thoughts before going were this place looks too good to be true, I printed pictures and all that I could find online and I thought I would be disappointed and when I saw the first three apartment I was like this last one is gonna suck too, and it was poring down with rain, I had five minutes to get there before the girl left for the day. let's just say I was looking forward to the worst. I got there and when I walked into the Beech my jaw dropped I was so impressed. I love the kitchen, the pantry, the living room is a little small but for a single mom and daughter it's do-able. The bathroom was perfect with the linen closet, the master bedroom was perfect and such a big closet. and having a masterbath would have so much possibilities. Let's just say I fell in love. Like you said the town looks great very tranquil and charming and shopping is not too far away I even thought I saw a school near by but I will be looking at everything before I move, there's even suposed to be a bus that rides past the complex. I left Friendship Village convinced that it was the best of the three I had seen for the day, however I still had one more in Maryland This one is West Creek Village I'm not sure if you checked it out or not. This one was ok but the neighborhood I drove through seemed suspect but they are building a new road that will lead past all of that. the floor plans are nice and the apartment I saw was great very spacious a larger living room and it does have the too bathrooms but the complex is under construction and it's quite messy, I would move here only if I could get an apartment in the new buildings and not the old. the staff seems nice but they made the mistake of leaving me, my mother, and my daughter to look around the apartment alone while he went back in his office I have been thinking hard and asking advice of my mother, she says the one in MD would be great cause its closer to Jersey and it has an offer of $596 for the first 6 months and $880 after. but I like FV better. I would suggest Friendship Village to you because it's new, it's beautiful, the apartments are well thought out and planned for comfort, the community seems nice it's close to Willmington it has all that you'll need with a full size washer and dryer and pool and fitness area. I will be applying myself and should be moving down by fall, winter the latest. maybe we'll meet if you like this property as much as I do. Hope this has helped you and sorry for the extremly long details but I love that place and it's real hard for me to feel that way being from Jersey and from Paterson and not trusting anything that looks too good. maybe it's not a great place but so far I have not heard anything that says otherwise. P.S if you are thinking FV I would suggest the Sassafras as opposed to the Beech because for $20 more you get a bigger second bedroom, a bigger master bedroom and an additional closet in the MBR but it's what is in your budget and what you want. Good luck

Friendship Village is very nice !! the one and only thing i dont like is the misleading web site add stating the price of appartments .. starting at $ 699.00 when you get there to sign papers is the first and only time you are told the rent for $ 699.00 is only for the first few months and the price goes up to $ 899.00 real quick !!

I moved to Harrington 12 years ago from New Brunswick, NJ... harrington is 90 minutes from Wilmington. Anything north of Dover would be a lot closer, only a 45 minute commute. You shoudl focus on what you want to be near. harrington has no malls or major businesses. Plus Friendshipd Villiage is behind WT Chipman Middle school so if you try to leave your home around busing times, it will be a headache. My suggestion is to rent for a year and scope out the places in DE to see where you woulld like to be. Dont commit to anything. You could rent a house on a month to month basis that may suit your needs better than getting locked into an apartment agreement for 12 months.

we moved my son into Friendship Village from Newark, DE. He loves it - it's a really nice town, everything is close. He works in Georgetown which is 30 min from Harrington but doesn't mind the drive since he likes where he lives. He has a 3 yr old and finds lots to do there. Friendship is behind the middle school but 99% of the time he's at work when the buses are there...they have a nice playground there too! The large shopping center is only 10 minutes away and the State Park with pools is only about 5 minutes away. The state fair is in Harrington so that's a bonus too! and the apts are brand new (only a few years old), they don't accept govt subsidized, and they are full most of the time. We resolved the $$ part by just figuring out what the annual rent would be and dividing it by 12 - he pays more in the beginning than what they're asking for but doesn't get hit with the bigger jumps in the middle of the year or near the end - it's called a tier-level rent and lots of owners are doing it. it helps you get into the apt and adjust...Enjoy!

Sorry, dislike Harrington Delaware. Crooked as they come. They speed trap out of state plates right out by the casino. They drop the speed limit from 35 to 25 and then quickly back up to 35 then 45. So as you make the turn onto Farmington Rd, you can easily see the sign for 35 and 45 and miss the one for 25. This crooked little town makes a fortune off of this little scam. Personally, dislike crooked little towns like this, makes it all more suspect. Just my take.

That's all of Delaware, not just Harrington!

Just go 5 MPH over the posted speed and you'll be fine!

What, you in some kinda hurry?
