Default Moving to DE

My husband and I are in the process of retiring and possibly relocating from Central CT (outside Hartford) to someplace nearer our children (Philadelphia and DC). We are interested in the DE shore areas, possibly in an over 55 community. I have done a little research on the internet, and we hope to get down there this summer to look at some areas. Is anyone currently living in an over 55 community? Any advice for someone who is starting this search??

Thanks!

The area of Lewes/Rehoboth/Dewey/Bethany/Fenwick is excellent for people over 55.

However, each town has different taste. What factors of living do you seek?

There are more housing developments beyond west of Route 1.

try finding a home that is not annexed with a community but is in Sussex County. Homes that are annexed generally pay almost 2 x's the amount in property taxes. As an example in Milford similar 3,200 sq ft homes on a 1 1/2 acres non annexed $ 1,017 county taxes only, annexed with Milford the taxes are $2,789.00
