Default Housing north of Wilmington - safe and affordable

I may have a temporary job in Wilmington, but from what I've read, the crime rate is high there. Can anyone suggest a safe and affordable suburb north of the city? Also, are small dogs commonly allowed in apartments? Thanks.

I am not sure of the policies on owning a pup but most rentals have their own restrictions. You may have to pay xtra to keep a pup but no matter what it is a pup is a great addition.

My brother lives in Wilminton in a townhome and his home is right off MLK highway. Newer area and 5 min from I-95. He had his home built around 15 years ago and he keeps it immaculate as do his neighbors. He has never tallked about crime but I am sure every place has it. There is a River walk so close to where he lives and the minor league ball park is right within his reach too.

If you want I can ask him of areas but North of Wilminton brings you into a higher traffic area and lots of apartments yet so close to Pennsylvania where I use to live.

Thanks for the info - actually the company is located north of Wilmington, so north would work better than in the city proper. If you could ask him, that would be great. I was thinking of places like Carrcroft, Claymont, Talley's Corner, Ardencroft etc. I know nothing about them, except they are north!

It's going to be tricky finding an apartment that offers temporary housing and takes pets as well. Anything temporary is normally furnished. Alot of apartment complexes have restrictions on pets now as you have already heard, places that will accept pets charge pet fees, however those monies are returned after you move out providing, no damage. Here are the only two I can think of that will do temps, if I should happen to find out another later I'll let you know.
Korman Residential Brandywine Hundred on Foulk Road minutes from downtown Wilmington and Korman Residential Statford on Nammans Road across from Brandywine Town Center and near route 202. Just thought of one more place you can try, Brandywine Apartments on Carpenter Road, I believe its under new management. Carpenter Road is off of Naamans, close to 202 as well but on the DE-PA state line.
