Sugar Magnolia will become famous soon enough
Doug's Auto. Gosh I hope he still has his place. It is in Smyrna. I love Doug and his wife. He even made a house call to my house once because I couldn't get my car started (turned out I needed spark plugs). He also let me make monthly payments to him once because he knew my financial situation. And I bought a car off of him once. I had been going to him for years and years until we moved to NC. Now my boyfriend can fix anything there is to fix on a vehicle so I wouldn't need a mechanic. But I'm telling you he is the most fair and honest person you will meet. And quick too. (302) 653-7065

Default Repair shops I have liked and disliked

Ray's Auto on Old Capitol trail is great. It is a small business. Ray is very honest and charges fairly. He doesn't charge book time as dealers and some other shops do. He is honest about the problem and explains to you.

D&S in Newark was great as well. I don't know if it is still in operation or not.

I used to go to a place on Newport gap pike just east of newport and they were pretty good. They were bought by Buckleys. We went there bc we didn't know where else to go. They were overcharging us. Something that the part would be $20 for would end up costing 300. They told us the the catalytic converters (very expensive) were bad in our van and it was only the O2 sensors - a lot cheaper. Dont go there.

JT in DE is on a distinguished road
I've been using the same guy for years and wouldn't take my car anywhere else for repairs. He tells you what he finds staright and honest, charges fairly and has gone out of his way to accomodate our business numerous times. His name is Ed and his shop is Dover Auto Repair. He's on Rt 13 south of Smyrna and a little south of the Rt 42/Cheswold light. Call first, because of how loyal his customers are, we find he's often busy, but he'll get you in as soon as he can. He's about 20 min south of Middletown.

I see this is a formerly dead thread, res-erected, but I'll add my 2 cents anyway. See Chuck @ Scotti Muffler. They are next to the Valero on West Main in Middletown. I was also new to the area and tried him after a couple of bad dealership experiences. He has treated me well.
