Local tax for Northern Delaware cities?
I know there is a local tax for those who live in Wilmington, but is there a local tax for people living in Claymont, Arden and all the other small cities in Northern Delaware? Does the local tax that residents have to pay only for those living in Wilmington itself? I have no clue about your tax laws and am trying to find out.

Like you mentioned, the City of Wilmington has it's own local tax. Outside of the City, Bellefonte has it's own tax because it's an incorporated area governed by elected officials. Bellefonte is an actual town recognized by the State and County with it's own by-laws.
Arden is also an incorporated area with a single tax system. Under the single tax system the land is taxed and not the structures; or something like that. It's explained on their web site.
Basically, if it's an incorporated area governed by elected officials you're going to have to pay a tax. The other incorporated areas I can think of are Middletown and the City of Newark. Outside of the incorporated areas, the only taxes you're going to pay are State and County.

BTW, the city of Wilmington wage tax is for residents of the City as well as the emplyees who work within City limits ... Living in Claymont alone does not let you escape the wage tax!

If I am seeing what Baconator is saying, I think it is in reference to the extra real-estate transaction tax on purchasing or selling a home.
Un-incorporated is .75%
Incorporated is .75% + .75% for the town/city
Now Arden is peculiar...it is my understanding that Arden housing purchases are structure only and that the new purchaser is given a 99 year lease on the land
Wilmington does have a wage tax as was mentioned... I don't know of any other city/town in NCC that has a wage tax

Just to clarify ... Wilm. City wage tax is paid by anybody who works WITHIN the City limits ... one doesn't have to work FOR the City!!
