Default New Castle and surrounding areas

Can anybody tell me any info about the area? I'm looking north which is closer to NJ for commuting to work. Would like to be 1/2 hour or less. The area must be suburban and safe. I found some areas on the map, maybe Wilmington Manor, Collins Park, Minquadale, or Dunleith. I have no clue about any, so any info would be very helpful to me. Single Family homes (no row homes) around $100K. They don't have to be big homes either, around 1000 sq ft is fine. Schools are not an issue, but the closer to NJ, the better.

I would not recommend any of the three areas you mentioned,
simply bc there high crime drug infested areas, but that just me.

Do you plan to buy or rent?

Most likely buy. What other areas would you suggest with my qualifications? Is Wilmington Manor that bad? I looked up the crime there and it says a 3 out of 10, which doesn't seem bad to me.

Attempts have been made to clean up the area, it used to bad.
I live in an area of North Wilmington that hasn't had the best
reputation either, but historical, theres been alot of clean up and
is on the up swing its about 15 min. from Commidor Barry Bridge
in PA that goes over to NJ, but not the commute time your looking for.

The area you definately want to stay away from is Minquedale,
sorry to offend any readers.

Minquedale and Collins Park are the closest to 295, north of that is a highly industrial area, Port of Wilmington, Gander Hill prison.

There are other areas of New Castle that you can consider, however,
out of the 100k price range. Wilmington Manor, Dunleigh could be okay,
just don't know the price range their. Contacting a realtor would be
the best thing to do.

What type of shopping, entertainment, restaurants are in WM and Dunleigh? I did find some homes under $100K and land for sale. I just don't want to be in the ghetto. Not looking for anything upscale either, just safe close to things, if you get what I mean.

Plenty of shopping on #13, supermarkets, fast food, restaurants, farmers market,
BJs, Home Depot. #13 forks onto #40, all the shopping you'll need.

Also, not to far to Christiana Mall, about 4 major retailers and probably
100 others. Costco close by too.

After you go over #295 into NJ, Cowtown, open year round,
farmers market atmosphere.

Collins Park and Dunleith are an absolute no. I know people who live in both Wilm Manor and Minquadale and they are nice people who contribute to their neighborhood. You might want to look at certain section of Penn Acres. You have to be very careful about neighborhoods in Delaware.

Minquedale is on two sides of #13, possibly one side is better than the other, I know ppl who live there as well.

There a section between Motor Vehicle and a landfill, I don't recommend
for a couple of reasons.
