I've reawakened our off-topic chat thread so that I can wish all those living in Delaware well, along with those in the beach areas along the east coast, in light of the coastal storm that will pound the area over the next few days. Please use this thread to keep in touch with us to let us know what impact the storm is having ... AND that you are OK!

I was out today and some of the roads were closed due to flooding, but I have an alternate route to take so we are just fine.

Our friends in the Beach towns are not so lucky. Sussex County has been hit hard. Even the areas inland like Millsboro have had major flooding. They say this is the worst flooding in 20 years. When I'm done reporting here, I'm gonna call my aunt who has a home on the bay in Sea Isle, NJ. From the news it looks like the entire town suffered the wraths of Ida.

I wonder how Bowers Beach made out. They did major erosion work after the nor'easter of Mother's Day of 08. Such a shame. This storm was downgraded from hurricane for us but it sure created the damage as if we were hit head on.

gee...guess nobody wants to keep this thread alive. Let me just make a comment that should bring a smile...I just cut three gorgeous roses off our bush. They survived despite the nor'easter we just had. Does Mother Nature know it's the middle of November? It was sunny and in the seventies here today. Gotta love it.

I absolutely hope this thread stays alive - and I can't wait to enjoy a few nice days in the beautiful Delaware sunshine.

Default roses

I have roses blooming also. Two beautiful pink buds and one rose fully open. Also have lettuce and parsley looking mighty good in my outside containers.

Friends have been sending me pictures of the flood waters in Dewey and of the ocean 15-20' waves. That was quite a storm.

Elizamary and her husband and my wife and I are going to have lunch at the Countrie Eatery in Dover on Monday, December 28 at 1 PM. If anyone is interested in joining us, let us know and we'll be sure to reserve a large enough table for all interested.

Here is the restaurant website along with the address for those who might wish to join us:

Best Breakfast, Dover, DE - The Countrie Eatery

I've eaten here a number of times. The food is reasonably priced and I've never been disappointed.

There was a "meet up" Friday night after Thanksgiving, at Dover Downs in the Fire & Ice Lounge. It was put together on short notice, when newcomers were in town for Thanksgiving, and a few of us locals attended. Very nice people! Music wasn't so great, though

Forgot to say.....This was not the 55+ group, but another group

Just joined the site and thought I would say hello.

I live in Newark, have all my life. Single mom with a 9 yr old girl and 5 yr old boy.

In case you're wondering, my name is referring to the U2 song "Lemon". Serious U2 fan.
