In New Castle County, the snow amounts were 12-14 inches. Digging out of snow took more than couple of days. It broke state's budget for snow removal for this year.(partly because it was based on the previous two very mild winters) Fortunately it has not rained to cause the flooding EM mentioned but it is supposed to rain on Christmas day; By then some of the snow would have melted by the Sun, hopefully.

Wish you all a safe journey and happy holidays!!

Good morning everyone. We're just packing up and getting ready to return home. Our visit to Delaware this time around was filled with activity, including two trips to Roesville, three trips to Champions Club, a morning at the beach, lots of shopping and restaurants, a short and profitable trip to Dover Downs, but most importantly, the opportunity to visit with old friends and meet new ones for the first time. When I get home tonight, I'll post specifically about my time at the 55+ communities.

We have just about everything we need now to make our choice. The only barrier now is knowing what my wife's employer has in mind so that the insurance issue can be addressed. It's obviously a very big-ticket item, especially with a pre-existing condition.

Thank you "From PA and Mr. PA", "Elizamary and Mr. EM", "Can't Wait To Retire and Mr. CWTR", "NapaJoe, Mrs. Joe and your lovely daughter", and "Frank and Judy" for helping to make this trip the best one yet.

Charley, it was so nice spending quality time with you and Mrs. Charley.
I hope that in the future, we will be able to meet the other newcomers to the area. Had a wonderful visit with our GA grandkiddies, now it's time to relax a bit. These holidays in DE have been the best yet. Good friends and family it just doesn't get any better than that! Safe home everyone!!!!

As 2010 makes it's first showing,
May the year treat you fine.
Let us be happy that it's not snowing.
and say goodbye to 2009.

Though I'm still in New York,
Our move not yet due,
I have many good wishes
For all of you.

May your new homes be sparkling,
With everything top rate,
And for those already settled,
May your homes remain great.

May the waves at the beaches,
Be gentle and relaxing,
And may the state politicians,
Refrain from new taxing.

At Del Park, Harrington and Downs
May you always have luck,
And you have happen to have a bad day,
May you not give a darn.

May you enjoy the best of health
Feeling always alive,
And may traffic be light
Even on I-95.

Wishing all of the best,
For the folks in First State
I hope 2010
Will be only first rate.

May the new year be happy,
Without any despair,
For all of my friends
In Delaware.

Charley - even Robert Frost would be proud of you. Perhaps we are all the subject in the poem "The Road Not Taken".

Well, it seems we've been sent to the "off topic" thread by the principal! Wanted to update you all on yesterday's final selection trip at CC. The gal we worked with, Susan, was wonderful. She was very patient (as we kept changing and changing,,,she has lots of white-out) and no pressure to upgrade. They expect to break ground on our home next week. There appeared to be about 4 homes in progress (Can't Wait..your pile of dirt was huge). We did upgrade a number of items but did come in "around" where we wanted to be. We met a new neighbor who will be several houses away.
All in all, I'm very happy with our choice. The location is great..close enough to everything. Went through Old Dover, it's charming. As you can tell, we're very excited.
As an aside, I can't imagine how Roesville will keep the HOA at $106...that makes it the lowest in the area. With an indoor pool? I don't think so.
Hope to meet all of you this summer!
