What's it like to live in Wilmington? What are the nicest areas & which are the ones to avoid?

Thumbs up Loved Wilmington!

It really depends on if you are talking about within the city limits or if you're talking about the greater Wilmington area. I'm most familiar with the areas inside the city limits.

Areas to avoid - Hilltop, East Side, North Market Street area between Concord Ave and 30th Street, Vandever Ave area

Areas that are nice - Downtown, anything on the west Side above 8th Street to Delaware Avenue, Trolley Square, the Highlands, Westover Hills, the north side above 30th Street, Baynard Boulevard area

I lived in Delaware for 14 years, and in Wilmington for 6 of those years. I loved it. And with the re-development going on there right now, it's a great investment if you're looking to buy a property.

I think the city is scary. I work there and it just seems a little too dangerous in any part. I am very familiar with the city, and there are definately ok parts, but you will pay for it. Wilmington's crime rate is worse then Phillys....scary!
