Hey guys, I was wondering how the job market was in Wilmington DE. I am currently in Richmond, VA. Richmond has been hit pretty hard by the recession, it is practically a ghost town. Currently I work customer service for a bank's mortgage division, where there seems to be no opportunities for advancement. This bank seems like it is the only place to work in Richmond because all of the companies have gonna bankrupt (circuit city hq, and landamerica). I hold a bachelors in Economics and I am currently pursuing a Post-baccalaureate certificate in Accounting so that I can sit for the CPA exam, but it seem's there is nothing here for me. So I just wanted to know If I would have better luck in a small city like Wilmington. Thanks in advance.

Jobs within radius of Richmond: *Careerbuilder

50 miles: 1551
30 miles: 1395.
10 miles: 1157
5 miles: 998

Jobs within radius of Wilmington:

50 miles: 8442
30 miles: 4519
10 miles: 1093
5 miles: 927

Looks like, despite Richmond trumping Wilmington's size, that Wilmington is much, much healthier than Richmond. In addition, 15-50 miles out, you have a ton of jobs from metro Phila.

I've always found work abundant in this area.

^^^^^LOL, You see what I'm going through? It's a sad situation down here. Career builder, monster, and indeed only shows jobs from either a. Suntrust (who does not hire and has had 3 straight quarterly losses) b. wellpoint bluecross/blueshield (no luck) c. headhunters. When the headhunters call, they can't help me because the only job they can find me is for the same job I am currently doing (customer service) or the collections department. The only thing one can do is stay in School, which I am currently doing, in order to keep hope alive. I'm done with my post-baccalaureate program in December 2010, after that I am leaving and never coming back.
