State of Emergency means stay off of the roads so the workers can try to keep the primary roads clear. Secondary roads are closed, for the most part.

The Newcomers Club consists of transplants from other states who've moved to Delaware, and also native Delawareans. Their goal is to welcome people to the area, and help them make the adjustment to their new home and community, so they feel like they've been here for years. The interaction between members, the camaraderie, and programs/activities presented are invaluable, as stated by many. Members come from all walks of life, some in the workforce, some retired, young and older members. That's why it's such an interesting organization!

Default Price of Snow Removal Breaks State Budget

Many roads and streets are still unplowed from this December snowstorm, and the state is out of money.

Edgemoor Terrace (NCC) residents pay around $20 a year to a neighborhood association for a private plow crew to clear their development.

Default To Start The Year, Our State Song

Our Delaware

Not NEW news, but most do not know our state song. Back in 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades, we were REQUIRED to learn the words, all verses. In the 4th grade, we were REQUIRED to write the words, all verses.

Here it is for all to learn, before crossing our border

"Our Delaware"

http://www.visitdover.com/funfacts.htm (broken link)

by George B. Hynson and Will M. S. Brown[indent]Verse 1:
Oh the hills of dear New Castle,
and the smiling vales between,
When the corn is all in tassel,
And the meadowlands are green;
Where the cattle crop the clover,
And its breath is in the air,
While the sun is shining over
Our beloved Delaware.
Chorus:
Oh our Delaware
Our beloved Delaware!
For the sun is shining over
our beloved Delaware,
Oh our Delaware
Our beloved Delaware!
Heres the loyal son that pledges,
Faith to good old Delaware.

I've been unsuccessful in the past finding a youtube or other clip of a DECENT recorded version of Our Delaware. The only thing I've found is an awful sound-file with one of those bad electronic piano sounds. It'd be great if anyone could locate and post a GOOD sound-file or video/audio link for the state song! The sound-file on the DE state website is awful.
