This is always such a nice event, on The Green, in Dover. Bring your chair or blanket and enjoy an outdoor concert every Thursday night, Free. It lasts about 1 1/2 or 2 hours, and there's a different band (or show) each week, set up on a podum or flat bed. There are not too many free places to go anymore and these are so enjoyable on beautiful spring and summer evenings. Wonderful people, there, too! All sociable! One of Delaware's quaint pleasures!

Wow I'd love that. Too bad that drive each way is so long for the 4:45am Friday wakeup! I hope some can go in my absence...

I just checked the concert schedule and it looks like a good lineup and something for everyone. I've been to these, and as you stated, they quite enjoyable.

It occurred to me that other towns probably have summer concerts too. Would you mind if I changed the title of your thread rdlr and add more or perhaps someone would like to start a new thread about summer concerts?

Fine with me to change the title, TBT. Good idea! Now that I'm thinking about it, Milford and maybe a location near Wilmington may have something similar.

Great idea, Rehoboth has a full variety at the bandshell each year:

Summer Concert Series 2010 - Rehoboth Beach Bandstand Official Website - City of Rehoboth Beach - Music and Entertainment All Summer Long!

... and the state parks also have a schedule available:

2010 Summer Concert Series

I'll be in Delaware in time to catch some of them. One that looks interesting to me is in Wilmington - Classic Motown of the '60's and '70's.

I love Motown - and look at the play list for this particular band's Motown set! Classics. Could be lots of fun.

I heard White Clay creek has summer concerts, that might be a fun setting. I 'll find out more info.

I found the DE Parks & Recreation concert schedule.

Hi Everyone........

Last year DH and I strolled down to Rehobeth for lunch one afternoon. They had a live band and singers from the 50's and 60's. Oh the songs were wonderful and brought back so many memories. I"m not sure what day it was......but I do remember the feeling I had and that was elation.

I"m a motown fan too.
