I have a question about tooth implants. I have had one--inserted today, actually. I won't go into the difficulties I had with this process, but I have a concern. The dentist wants me to buy a mouth guard to wear at night to "protect" the implant. I have a number of crowns, and no dentist has ever had my buy a mouth guard. I would have to pay $300 for one from the dentist, and I am concerned that once I had it, I'd never wear it!
Do those of you who have dental implants use mouth guards at night? Can you share your experiences?
if you want to save your money, you can always get a mouth guard from the drug store or places like that.
its not the exact same thing, but might be similar for a fraction of the cost.
and wearing a mouth guard to protect the implant? sounds unnecessary, and also sounds like your dds wants some extra money. was it your general dentist or a specialist that placed your implant?
I actually have Ameriplan's Dental Plus discount plan which includes implants at a lower rate. I checked them out a couple of years ago AFTER discovering what was not included in my husband's medical plan. Moderator cut: no soliciting, please
