So i saw the prostodontist this morning.. he was very nice and helpful. he said that the chip is not a chip or tooth but cement.
he also said that it needs to be redone and suggested that I go back to the first dentist for the redo. he said that these things happen.
Id love to just go to this new guy, but then I have to try and get my money back and the money back that the ins company pd.. that seems like not an easy task.. so at this point I need to decided if i go back or fight... i also hate the idea of having the awful tasting temp in my mouth for another 2 weeks!
Now that you have your second opinion, I suggest asking your regular dentist to replace the crown. It'd be easier.
It would be easier.. i had so much trouble with them.. I am so nervous to go back and start over. But am also nervous about asking for the money back.
the girls did the temp totally wrong, I told him on day 1 that there was a problem and he said no way that i was looking for trouble.. but there is a problem and a month later they have not been able to fix it. And there is no way to fix it so i dont even know why they tried.
Thinking about what to do gives me total anxiety. Thinking about having that awful tasting temp again for 2 weeks just makes me want to cry. the new dentist would take only 8 days to make the permanent one vs 2 weeks at the old one
thanks for all the help.. i would give anything to have my old teeth back..
I have an appt on tuesday with a new prostodontist. He is going to do a complete redo of the 2 crowns for 2500. Lots of money but he seems good and showed me some xrays of his work.. looks like real teeth!
I started using a waterpic so the pain is gone, it was the flossing under the ledge that was causing the pain. But the crowns still give me anxiety ALL day long. i sure hope that these new crowns, if they fit better i will feel them less, not feel them at all?? God I hope so, i cant live like this.
well i got the crowns redone .. and they do fit better. food doesnt get stuck.. so thats good. but i still have this pain.. its been a full week since they redid the crowns and now the pain of the procedure is gone but at night my tooth throbs. I have been taking ib800. the dentist feels i dont need a RC.. so i guess ill just continue with the ib800 and hope i dont get an ulcer.
its been exactly 3 months since ive had a nice meal or felt good at any point in the day .. i kinda feel like i made a huge mistake and my life is never going to be the same and im getting really depressed. I have 2 kids to take care of and a life that is pretty busy.. this has ruined everything.
so i went in today.. he did some air test and it hurt and the pain did not subside for a while. he said that this means i need a RC.. so he did some emergency thing where he drilled and put some cotton with meds in it and some filling material on top.
I dont really understand how i didnt need a RC according to him on the xray and now i do.. i dont understand any of it
wow .. so last night was HORRIBLE pain! HORRIBLE.. i was sick to my stomach this morning and now im back to the same pain before I started any of these redos.
I have an appt to pull the tooth tomorrow. its ben 3 months, ive had enough! I dont want to do a RC period and I dont want to do one and then have any issues after.
Hopefully the 2nd tooth will be a non issue, i cant really see eating well with having such a Huge space in my mouth
still in pain.. i get the permanent crown monday.. Does anyone have any insight as to what could be going on or what i can do to stop this every day pain/discomfort?
Belladee, I am a dental hygienist. Dentists normally guarantee the crown for 1 year. It is not unusual for people to ask for a re-do. I wouldn't waste $2,500 on new crowns at another dentist.
It is also not unusual for people to file a complaint with the state dental board if they do not get satisfaction from their dentist. Trust me on this...your dentist does not want you to do this. Another option that someone mentioned above is peer review by the local dental association.
I'm sorry you are going through all this pain right now. I see that you have been dealing with it for a couple months. There are two different types of abscesses...periapical and periodontal. There is also something called "cracked tooth syndrome." Or...you could have pulpitis (inflammation of the nerve) from it pounding against another tooth. Another type of dentist that you could check with is a periodontist (gum disease specialist)...just for another opinion. I know you must be tired of the whole thing by now.
seems having the crowns redone really ruined my teeth.. or perhaps it was something else.
I went BACK to the dentist. he said since i was not bleeding when he went around with the instrument that there was nothing to fix. he said the crown fits good and looks good.. however I am still hurting.
I dont think i need a RC.. i have no issues with heat or cold.. or eating.. but the tooth or gum hurts in one spot. he did say the crown sits low... and my gum needs to heal around the crown. (yet my gums look good?)
all i know is there is pressure and it hurts constantly.
I feel like my dentist is done with me, he said he cant fix what he cant see... im beside myself with what to do.. i just go threw each day waiting for bedtime so i can sleep and i wake up every morning fusturated that I have to deal with it again for another never ending day.
6 months later and the pain is still here on the remaining crown.
I saw ANOTHER dentist and showed him the xrays.. he told me that I didnt need crowns in the 1st place. I am so upset. Still no dentist knows what is wrong.
