Many root canals have nothing to do with how you take care of your teeth. Many root canals are the result of an infection that happens inside the root without starting from a cavity or other external damage.
Pull the tooth. Then what? A bridge that requires injury to both adjacent teeth? Leave a gap or maybe a partial? May medical procedures are horrific to watch. Take hip surgery for example. You'd think that it was outdoor construction work going on. How can drilling out the nerve and going that deep into a tooth look like anything other than messy and terrible? I'm just saying that there are few medical procedures that from a video look nice and clean. Take a colonoscopy for example. Who in their right mind would think that was anything but unclean and ripe for introducing who knows what into the body?
The general theory of dentistry is to preserve the natural tooth whenever possible. Root canals are an effective aspect to this theory. An extraction can lead to a lot of issues that are potentially harmful and costly.

I'm not against root canals but these dentists are looking out for their wallet more then you're health. I would bet for every extraction to root canal, extractions are going to have less health issues. Not only that but a root canal with crown is over 1k. An extraction is $100.

There is no reason to argue with conspiracy theorists such as this, since they hear everything through biased ears. Everything is a scam and everyone is out to get them. Trust nobody. Don't trust the guy that went to dental school, but do trust strangers on the internet. What a way to go through life. There are financial incentives either way. Yes, a root canal cost money. But replacing the tooth with a bridge, removable partial, or implant is similarly expensive.
