I suggest you take all these questions about amalgam removal protocols to your dentist. Most dentists will give you the boot b/c they know you will be a PITA and the $10 they get from doing your new filling that ends up in their pocket after paying office overhead and student loan payments is not worth the hassle.
Agreed.

I'm not a dentist, Bart, but I am a scientist. Which part of the following do you think is BS?

"I'm not at all concerned about the amalgam in my teeth, and I think the risk of removal is probably low, but it seems prudent to explore what "best practices" would be in their removal. I've seen anti-amalgam websites suggesting certain procedures but I don't know how many dentists actually use them, or how necessary they are deemed by ADA or mainstream dentistry."

or how about where I said "A holistic dentist will probably say they are the only one who can remove amalgam safely. They may also be the only ones who think there is any significant danger, which is what I'm trying to find out here. I'm not convinced there is."

I make it clear I'm not convinced there is any danger, and am trying to find out what special precautions mainstream dentists take, if any are deemed necessary. That's because I go to mainstream dentists and want their opinions, not wack-job homeopseudodentists. I'm not going to spend weeks wading through dental journals to find the answer when I believe the risk is low and there are several alleged dentists right here who normally aren't afraid to express their opinions. I'm not sure why this honest question from an admitted skeptic would provoke such a venemous response from you. If a dentist would give a patient the boot just for asking an honest question, they should probably find another field where they feel less insecure.

Maybe because 90% of the threads in this sub-forum are laughable like this one and posting in them only brings out more trolls?

If you want to go to a holistic dentist, no one is stopping you. Amalgams have been removed by "regular" dentists for a couple of centuries.

I remove amalgams because they are failing or if the patient requests for them to be removed.

Thanks for being so condescending and caling my thread laughable. You are a professional dentist, I am not. I ask an honest question looking for an honest answer, and get insults and condescension.

Any of you could have just said "there isn't any significant risk from amalgam removal so no specific precautions are taken or recommended by the majority of dentists".

Pretty simple and to the point.

I'm not being condescending just like your previous post was not baiting. It's just the internet so no feelings are really involved. I could be a dog posting for all you know.

In all seriousness, you asked why the resident dentists were not posting in this thread, and I gave you an honest answer. It may not be the answer you wanted to hear, but it was honest nonetheless.
