She did not get fluorosis from having fluoride applied to her teeth, look it up for yourself if you don't believe anyone in this thread

Thats the thing with insurance take your monthly payments then use every loophole they can find to get out of paying when you need them.

This is the coverage you purchased. There is no such thing as dental "insurance".

I think there is ample research that proves you wrong but if you want to rely upon a bunch of quack websites then there is probably no point in trying to dissuade you from your opinion.

There used to be. There were plans that paid similar to health coverage, 80/20%, except on braces. I used be a dental assistant.

My sister the was missing some permanent teeth so she needed braces. Missing permanent teeth is not too uncommon. My son got braces, his were extremely crooked, cost was $5,000. That is a pretty standard price for basic non-complicated case...... He was missing all his wisdom teeth, yeah!!!! We didn't have dental insurance.

Yep fluorosis happens when teeth are developing from too much fluoride. Usually only happens from natural occurring fluoride. Another cause of tooth mottling is from tetracycline given to infant when teeth are developing. This is a well known problem with tetracycline and any doctor should avoid that medication at all costs, can't, remember the age limit recommendations.

Getting mottling, showing white spots on teeth after braces are removed is from decalcification of the enamel of teeth, weakening of the enamel. Comes from not cleaning off plaque. Dentists should always use fluoride applications to help this but sometimes isn't enough.

GET A ULTRASONIC TOOTH BRUSH OR ORAL-B. Don't get the cheap knock offs. Be prepared to go through many head replacements, braces rip them apart.

I would just give, nothing anybody says will change her mind, even if God, himself, came down from the heavens and told her that the fluoride applied to her granddaughter's teeth did not cause fluorosis, she won't even believe him!

Most dental insurance sucks. They cap you at 2k which you can eat up fast. If you need dentures, full or partial they only cover 50% plus you have deductible. Braces, unreal what they may cover.
That is why most people unless they get it from employer, don't buy it.

There are options but you're right, even good insurance doesn't cover much of the cost of braces. I currently have 2 dental insurance plans that cover 80% of major work http://www.city-data.com/forum/51145150-post4.html
