Question Whiter teeth

Has anyone tried Crest Whitestrips? How do they work?
Does anyone have any tips for whiter teeth? Thanks

The strips do work, especially the Premium Plus. However, if your enamel is somewhat weak or eroded, there can be a bit of discomfort involved when using the strips; perhaps some "stinging" sensations or dull pains around the teeth. Some complain about this but then others have no problems or endure it since it's not extreme or intolerable.

Strawberries are known to help with tooth whitening over time, which is why some natural toothpastes use dried powdered strawberries in the ingredients. You can also take fresh strawberries, smash them up with baking soda to make a loose paste and apply the mix onto your toothbrush for brushing...however leave the mixture on the teeth for a few minutes before brushing fully and rinsing.

Brushing with orange peel zest is another way or rubbing orange peel against the teeth (good for breath too). Powdered sage mixtures and powdered mint leaves are also said to help whiten.

Some will use white or apple cider vinegars, either solely or mixed in again with baking soda to make a paste, for brushing the teeth.

There are new brands of teeth-whitening mouthwashes as well.

I've been wanting to try those strips but don't wanna waste my money. That's interesting about the strawberries too. Good ideas! Thanks

Crest make a good whitening tooth paste and mouth wash. That's funny about the strawberries, I would think they would stain instead of whiten.

I just had the ZOOM Laser procedure, at the dentist's office last week. The results were very good. My dentist was running a special.

I am not a coffee drinker, but I do drink a LOT of tea. Probably 3 or 4 bottles of Lipton ice-tea a day. Better than drinking soda-pop. I haven't had any soda-pop in over 2 years now. I have no desire for it at all. It was tough giving it up. My dentist gave me an handout, after the ZOOM procedure. -It just had a few tips, like to avoid coffee & tea.

I was wondering, what if I drank my tea only when at home and then brushed my teeth IMMEDIATELY within 10 minutes, after each episode? I've been doing this the past couple days.

Do you think this helps or do you think I'm staining my teeth....to some degree anyway ?

AsymptoticFaery: You mentioned the sensitivity, with your in-house (or at home) whitening procedure. Before I went to the dentist, my dentist gave me a prescription, for a special toothpaste. He wanted me to brush my teeth, for 1-week, before the procedure.

It seems like you could ALSO avoid the sensitivity and pain, associated with tooth whitening. I believe the toothpaste had a HEAVY concentration of fluoride. I did not experience any sensitivity at all. Even when they washed my mouth out with COLD water, I felt nothing.

With my insurance picking up a portion of the prescription, my bill was about $9.00 You could probably ask the pharmacist, for the generic version. Just let them know, it's the toothpaste that patients get, before tooth whitening. There might be an over-the-counter version. Not sure. If you only use THE TUBE, prior to tooth whitening sessions, a few times a year, you could probably have enough for 1-year. Use regular toothpaste, the rest of the time.

My husband and a good friend both use the crest whitening stips with great results. No complaints from either one of them, and their smiles are a lot whiter and brighter!

My dentist told me if you get a tube of the sensitive toothpaste and use that before using the strips it helps.

I saw a commercial for a new whitening out that uses little trays I am curious if anyone has tried them.
Is it me or has anyone else noticed when you see stars on TV their top teeth are nice and white but their bottom teeth aren't as white.

karla

Shania Twain, Brad Pitt, Hillary Duff and Katie Couric have porcelain veneers (bonded to their teeth).

I have the bleaching trays and my bottom teeth are not as white as the top and dentist says it's because it seeps out of the bottom tray.

Don't drink coffee. Also, stay away from fruit juices: even several that are labeled as being healthy in one form another: many still contain high levels of fructose. These juices will both decay and "un-whiten" your teeth over time.
