Hi!
There are a number of great Denver neighborhoods with young couples with kids are living. I recommend you check out anything in the Cherry Creek school district as they have the best schools in Denver. Of course, that affects real estate values

If you find homes in that area are above your budget, I would recommend you consider the Highland, Berkeley and Sunnyside neighborhoods of Denver. They were written up as some of the best "up and coming" neighborhoods in Denver, so pricing is still reasonable. Read the 5280 Magazine article on Denver neighborhoods at Where To Live in Denver Now | May 2010 | 5280 Magazine | 5280.com.

Cherry creek schools are in the suburbs (the very suburban ones complete with tract housing and strip malls ). Highlands, Sunnyside and Berkeley are not known for having "excellent schools" which is the op's top priority.
