questions about Wheat Ridge
What is the demographics in Wheat Ridge? I can look online, but most of the information is a few years old and does not count persons who do not report themselves to the census bureau.

Wheat Ridge
Looking for feedback about Wheat Ridge...
I am considering purchasing a business property near Wadsworth/West 38th Ave. Have never been to the Wheat Ridge area and wonder if the income/unemployment/ethnicity stats are accurate.
Of course I plan to visit soon but it would be hard to tell just from a visit if there are any underlying factors that would affect a long term investment such as this.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

i don't know if the stats are current, but they must be from the recent past. Wadsworth is the major drag nearly 100% commercial, and therefore a decent place to own a business. Read the rocky mountain news, denver post and or the denver business journal for future predictions.

2bindenver,
Thanks for the info...good idea to check the newspapers. What is your general opinion on Wheat Ridge. Would you consider the area to be in an up, down or stable trend?

nice, established older area. there is talk about the hospital moving to a new facility.
I'd have no beef living or working there.

Nothing wrong with that area at all.
It's part of the "original" Wheat Ridge, one of Metro Denver's oldest suburbs. The housing in that area is going to be older, think maybe 1920s-1950s, and fairly modest examples from that period. (Wheat Ridge was built as a working-class suburb, not as a getaway for the rich.) It also doesn't have quite the historic nature that you'll find a few blocks east in the West Highlands neighborhood of Denver. But, on the other hand, it's a LOT cheaper than West Highlands, and you only have to walk 5 blocks east and you're there.
As for crime, it's not going to be a significant problem, in my opinion. There will be a small bit, of course, but it's not crime-ridden by any means.
It sounds like you're renting, so I think you've found a good, centrally located place that will allow you to get to know both the northwest Denver as well as the Jefferson County suburbs while you live out your lease there. I think it's a reasonable choice.

We lived on the Denver side of that 'hood for a couple years and loved it. We gravitated more towards Wheat Ridge, etc for shopping and such because it was more convenient. We would have stayed there, but we wanted to live farther out. When we moved to Louisville, it was a little town.
