I'll add that the Mousetrap catches traffic from the west, east, and northern suburbs of Denver (where I-25 is the main route south). The elevated section of I70 to the east of I-25 is in need of much repair and tends to flood when we get the afternoon rains.

I think the above comments hit the nail on the head: school's back in session, sunglare is bad going east in the morning and west in the evening, and it's still "construction season" in Colorado.

Might try 44th or 32nd east to Federal or Zuni, and connect to 26th/Speer to get into downtown.

Good luck!

Bryan

I drive from c-470 and bowles to I-70 and central park blvd every day. I have to cross Denver every day. It is awful. I70 needs to be fixed. Even taking I76 is a nightmare because 270 is a deathtrap. There are no reliable ways to cross Denver from west to east during rush hour without going really out of the way...

They're supposed to widen the 70 from downtown to the airport, but it's going to be 2 added toll lanes in each direction. Considering the outrageous cost of tolls on e-470, I'll assume the same for these new lanes. Thanks to TABOR, we can't fix our roads!

Sure we can. It just means that a usage fee is also included in the funding structure of the project like mass transit. US-36, I-70, C-470, I-25; pretty soon all highways in Colorado will have a tolled portion where those with means will zoom on by while the poor and the cheap suck on fumes.

Truer word was never spoken.

I cannot picture it ever getting better; only worse.

Too many people already jammed into a built out infrastructure with many more on the way.

The other day during rush hour it took me 47 minutes to drive 13 miles.
