What's a good place in the Denver area to buy skis and accessories? I see a lot of places have them but i'm sure some places are way higher than others. I'm just looking for some decent stuff, doesn't even have to be the latest model or anything.

I've been buying a lot of hiking stuff at REI, are they good for Skis also? Sports Authority?

Thanks

Not Sports Authority. I'd recommend Colorado Ski and Golf, which is actually owned by the same family who used to own Gart Sports (which got bought out by Sports Authority).

Rent 3 or 4 different brands then buy on ebay. Got $1000 skis and bindings for $250. RP

If you have a fair idea of what you want, consider buying on-line from Sierra Trading Post. You can get brand new, last year's models for blow-out prices.

If you don't mind doing a little driving, consider going to the ski areas now as the shops are setting up for the upcoming season. They still have some of last year's inventory which can be had for excellent pricing ... I've seen some recently at 50-75% off of last year's sales prices. Plus you get the benefit of their expertise in setting up the skis and bindings to your needs. IMO, these guys know what they're doing a lot better than the general outdoor supply outfits in Denver metro ... and can also give you better advice as to the "best" ski for your needs. I've done this several times through the years, and bought $1000 skis for $250, too .... brand new, not used and in unknown condition, from a retailer who could stand behind the product for adjustments and tuning.

Some of the best deals I've seen are in the priciest resorts in the off-season. Stores in Aspen and Vail want to get rid of everything that is from last year no matter how much they have to mark it down. I'm talking as much as 75% on basically new stuff. After all who would be caught dead in last year's Spyder? Ha. You probably have until about the end of October.
