Hello,

I am relocating to Denver from Texas and would like to find suitable living arrangements before I arrive. I will be working in the Commerce City area, and would like something within 20-30 mins from there. A studio or 1 bedroom would be great. My budget is $700, possibly $800. My problem is, every time I find a rental that looks suitable, apartmentratings.com has horrible ratings for it. Could anyone point me in the right direction for finding something that isn't bedbug infested, but doesn't cost 1,300!

Thanks for your help in advance!

Apartment reviews for any apartment anyway are always bad. And that's because apartment living generally sucks, no matter which one it is. Generally I think it's most helpful to ignore the 5 (mgmt review) and 1 star ratings (total rants) and look at what people are saying in the middle.

Have you looked at Stapleton, Arvada, Aurora city center area (around Alameda & 225 & Chambers), Westminster, and Thornton?

There are some beautiful homes in Commerce City/ Henderson that, due to foreclosures, could probaly be rented fairly reasonably, especially if you can find a room mate.

Also, no matter what - if you're coming from Texas, any place would be much better than where you're at now. But you should be able to have your pick of places at that level of rent and with what you're looking for.

I have never been a fan of Commerce City and it stinks b/c of a dog food factory. But....'Reunion' is a newer nice community near there. Also Arvada, Stapleton, and some areas of Downtown?

OP: where from Texas are you relocating from?? Maybe that'll help us know where you are coming from in order to recommend something that you'd like.

Arvada is pretty far from Commerce City. I'd suggest the Northglenn/Thornton area.

$700 - $800 should be about right for Commerce City. If you want to spend more you can try Stapleton. Once you get a place, if it doesn't work for you, you'll have plenty of time to look for a better place. Try this:

denver craigslist > housing > apts/housing for rent > search for: commerce city > rent: 700 - 800 > 1BR.

denver apts/housing for rent classifieds "commerce city" - craigslist
