My husband is being transferred to Denver for work purposes, so in a short time we will be moving all that we know from our little village in Ireland to a city we've never visited before. Any advice on the area would be appreciated!

We wish at some point to buy a home with plenty of land as we appreciate privacy as well as being outdoors, however it makes more sense to rent first before deciding where to buy.

My husband will be working in the Englewood/Centennial area. We would like to find an apartment/home as close to his office as possible. What is the public transport like there? Also, I will be 5 months pregnant when we move and am considered high-risk. We are new to the health care system there, but trying to learn at a rapid pace. Any advice on which maternity hospital/specialist to contact as soon as we arrive would be appreciated if that info can be given on this forum.

As far as our requirements for the area go, safety and proximity to Englewood/Centennial are key. Views of the mountains, privacy and generally 'pretty' areas would be nice. As for safety, are there any parts of those areas that we should avoid? We have so many questions, so right now we're looking for a starting point to begin our moving plans.

You are trading green for brown, overcast for sunny, and a temperate climate for a continental climate. Denver is much newer and auto dependent than Ireland. Denver is much larger than Dublin in both population and area. There will be culture shock.

I would recommend living along the SE light rail line in or around the Denver Tech Center to start. This area would offer access to both buses and light rail and be near your husband's workplace. That area is very safe, so you don't need to worry about wandering into a bad area. Once you get here, you will be able to decide whether you will be able to realize your dreams of a house with land.

Health care here is (can be) excellent, but it is often dependent on the type of health insurance that you get. Talk to your husband's company to find out what type of insurance they offer.
