I'm in the process of searching for an apartment in and around Aurora and noticed a lot of places requiring huge deposits for pets and some even have pet rent on top of that? Is this normal for the area? Are there any good recommendations for apartments in the area that allow pets? Preferably ones that don't require so high deposits? I'm transferring with work and looking for something relatively cheap (about $600-$800)and close by to start out with. After a few months I will probably move again to a different complex once I've had a chance to view the area and get to know my surroundings.

We looked at a few complexes run by larger scale property management in HR, Parker, SE Aurora, etc and all of them had pet deposits and pet rent, even for cats. We didn't have a chance to look at smaller, privately maintained apartments or condo rentals, but from experience where we live now in Southern California, that would probably be the best place to look to avoid those kind of charges.

I primarily looked at apartments in downtown Denver and most of them charge a non-refundable deposit, refundable deposit, and pet rent. If you are moving in the winter, many apartments have "deals" on rent since it is the slow season.
