Default Should I move to Parker or Highlands Ranch, CO

My husband and I are considering moving to CO from Arlington Texas and would like to know the pros and cons of Parker and Highlands Ranch. We are trying to stay away from Natural Gas Drilling for health reasons. We have a 6 and 3 year old and are looking for a "green" area, within 20-30 minutes DIA (my husband travels often), great schools, family community, low crime, with hiking and mountain views. Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

Neither of those two areas are within 20-30 minutes of DIA. If you use E-470 and pay an arm and a leg you could probably do it in around 40 minutes with no weather or accidents from Parker.

Consider S.E. Aurora.

One of our regulars on here (The3Ds) speaks glowingly of her area, which is Saddle Rock Ridge. Her husband works at DIA which is indicative that the commute from that area isn't a killer. Google Saddle Rock Ridge and you'll get tons of info.

Southeast Aurora would probably be the best. If you live closer to Parker Rd you can still get to DIA relatively easy using I-225 and if you live closer to E-470, although you have to pay the tolls, its still an easy drive straight north to Piña Blvd. Even if you didn't want to pay the tolls, it doesn't take that long to get from Saddle Rock to Parker Rd unless it's horrible weather or rush hour.

Check into Castle Rock. DIA will be about 40 to 50 minutes, but its got a lot of natural beauty within the town (bluffs, small canyons and a lot of open space with trails within the Town) and its views of the mountains are outstandings. Good park system, nice rec. center with an indoor aquatic facility, good schools, decent shopping (Kohl's, Target, Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Lowes and the Outlet Mall) with and a historic downtown with some good local shops and restaurants. Its only about 10/15 minutes to Park Meadows.

SE Aurora is very similar to Highlands Ranch in demographics. Many families, excellent schools, newer homes, and safe, walkable neighborhoods.

Presuming you mean "green" as in environmental friendly (since you put it in quotes) as opposed to the green as in color, but the latter is quite rare most of the year.

Parker is a fabulous community. No drilling of any kind The schools in Parker whether public or charter are outstanding. If you really want to be 20-30 minutes to DIA you are going to sacrifice on the quality of life. Parker is situated on Cherry Creek with miles of bike path, a world class town recreation program, great hiking in some of the open space in Douglas County, there is an Arts and Cultural Center opening in the fall. A superb library systems. Lovely mountain views and great access to DIA via E-470 and it might take you 40 minutes. While it is a toll road, there is an e-pass that is a substantial cost savings if you enroll in the program and it beats getting stuck on I-225 or I-70 in traffic. There is a charming downtown district in addition to all the convenience shopping you will need. There really ins't a "con" to Parker. Your type of person would find nothing wrong with it.
