As for the comment on nothing thats distinctive...what are you talking about?
Mountains
mexican influence
sports
beer

...besides bbq..what defines kc? (Just wondering..not in a smartass way)
I don't think we Kansas Citians are close-minded, but first impressions do say a lot. Maybe it just takes time to get use to the traffic, rude drivers, overcrowded schools, and higher cost of living in Denver. And, I think it depends on what you are looking for and what stage of your life you are in. Right now, out top priority is good schools. Having left great schools in Kansas City where the teachers cared and coming here where the schools are overcrowded and the kids are just a number moved through the system...well, it's been tough.

As far as the mexican influence, my first impression is that there is more in Kansas City than Denver. Maybe I just need to get out more....just as soon as the traffic dies down and the drivers stop being rude

I think it depends on what school district you're in. They shouldn't be that heavily crowded.
I'm not going to disagree on the rude drives..but honestly, those are everywhere. You'll also get use to the traffic. It seems bad, but it gets better. Atleaset its not Atlanta, LA, or Houston type traffic...
More Mexican/Hispanic influence in Kansas City?? Naww. Couldn't be
