Brand new and wondering about private schools in Denver (house, school district)

Hi All

I know this subject has been rehashed but in searching I couldn't quite find an answer so I'm hopeful someone might know.

We used to live in Denver and still own a house in Cheesman park that I love. It isn't in a good school district although I've heard that the high school is decent (East) We are considering moving back from New Mexico with two kids and would love to stay in that house but feel that (based on what I've read here and other places) the private schools are the most realistic option until high school.

I saw a few that were outrageous and aren't 'us' at all, but are there any private schools in the mid range around capitol hill that you all feel are worthwhile? We're close to the Bromwell cutoff, but not close enough!!

I'm in denial that the DPS system could be as bad as I read, but I have to take what I'm reading as a pretty good estimate of the real deal.

Any thoughts? Do these schools all have five year waiting lists?

hmm, do you mean elementary I assume?
We moved from North Country Club b/c we were in Dora Moore. Now are in Wash Park but in Steele which is good, but not great.

This is a tough one, and I'll try and stay positive. We are trying to get into private and were rejected from all last year. For some, there were only 3 people that were not siblings or legacies that got in. Many people are trying for private right now. Graland is very good but also very hard to get into and not "us" either. You may want to try Good Shepherd, if you are okay with paraochial. I've heard wonderful things about it. Also, Stanley British in Lowry is suppossed to be good. Montessori of Colorado is now in Curtis Park area nad I hear is very good. If you are a fan of Waldorf, the Waldorf School is very convenient to Congress Park now. That is all i can think of somewhat close to you. Good luck. We are dealing with this too.
