A friend of mine is flying into Denver this Friday (March 25) for a conference and asked me to give them a a short tour of Denver.

What are the top places you recommend I drive them to see around the downtown Denver (and nearby) area.

My plan is to just have a list, and use my Tom Tom to go to each point along the way. Probably won't be able to get out and go into places. More of a driving sight-see tour.

Thanks!

I guess "nada" because this has been explored before on this forum. You could do a search and find out what has already been suggested.

Driving sight-see could include the Capitol building and that new modern art gallery on Broadway (can't remember the name). You can't drive down the 16th Street Mall, but you can cruise Larimer Square, Union Station, and LoDo. Go by the convention center and check out the big blue bear, and go by the Brown Palace.

One sight that's a bit further out, but worth it, is Red Rocks.

if you are physically able, I would highly recommend taking a tour of downtown with our new bikeshare system rather than by car. It may actually take longer driving through traffic and you won't see nearly as much through the windshield. check out the station map at Denver Bikes | Denver Bike Sharing Program | B-Cycle | bcycle.com

You could check out a bike at REI, take in the sights at confluence park, then ride down the cherry creek bike path to Larimer Square. Check in the bike at 13th and larimer. Have lunch in the square then walk over to 16th street mall. ride the shuttle to wynkoop street, walk past union station and grab a beer at wynkoop brewery. Lastly, walk the 16th street bridge across riverfront park and back to REI. That would be a beautiful half day tour of downtown denver
