LoDo prices out of your range for 3+ bedrooms and you haven't said you want an urban life. You might get to Broomfield/Westminster in 30 mins, but probably not DTC.

Update - we are currently living in Highlands Ranch and are looking to move to Golden because of the great location (Denver, mountain access). Highlands Ranch is nice for families just know it is the typical cookie cutter community found around the country. The houses are incredibly close...

The commute from Golden to DTC should be fun during rush hour. Oof.

You might also like the Applewood area of Golden, Lakewood and Wheat Ridge. The area has "bigger" lots and not so cookie cutter homes. It is just a few minutes (5 maybe?) from Golden proper. Livecontent has posted a lot about this part of town if you want to read up on it.

I would recommend looking near Morrison around hwy 285. I would consider it a poor man's Golden. Very quaint town of morrison, but some nice homes in the area. Very close to all the mountain activities.... commute isn't perfect, but basically a straight shot across on 285 to DTC... you will hate the commute from Golden, I wouldn't recommend it.

Highlands Ranch is probably the right suggestion. South of C470, west of i25 and east of Lucent Blvd. 15-30 minute commute to DTC and 25-45 minute ride to downtown Denver depending upon the traffic. the i70 corridor to access the ski resorts will be about 25-30 minutes i would guess.

Park Meadows is a beautiful mall that's a 5-10 minute drive away and cherry creek is about 30 minutes away.

Arghh!!!! I just wrote a long reply and when I posted I received a message saying 'sorry pal, forum is down for maintenance and your post has evaporated'. Actually all but the maintenance part were my words.

Angry Lengthy post disappeared!!

The same exact thing happened to me, a VERY LONG POST, and when I went to submit it, I got this:

"City-Data.com Forum is down right now for a daily maintenance.

Please wait a few minutes and refresh this page.

Sorry for any inconvenience."

SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE??? Why did my entire message have to disappear??? Why can't we be told it can't be submitted and to wait and re-submit it??? This is extremely frustrating and aggravating, I suppose this can occur at any time of night, as there's nothing posted giving any times for "maintenance". Come on, think about it. I'm sure there are some every night who have their posts disappear like this, and it's like a slap in the face of your members....

If you write a long post, before posting it, control + A then, control + C. Learned that the hardway too.
