It seems like the traffic has continually gotten worse through that stretch over the past few years... I dread to think what it will be like in another 10 years if highway improvements don't occur!

Agree completely! As downtownola said, it's backed up at rush hour. It isn't all 55 mph the whole way. We have had this comparison between LA traffic and Colorado before. If you're in a traffic jam, you don't think about how much worse it is in California.

Bumper to bumper traffic is common out here. At least if you are going 55 miles per hour you are at least moving. Out here, that is a luxury.

I commute on S. 101 daily, so I know what you mean. I am thinking to relocate to Broomfield. I also drove two times on I-25 this year, the traffic has no comparison with S. 101 of San Jose.

This only supports my Denver North to Denver South Megalopolis Theory; Ft Collins to Fountain, one big city.
This may sound morbid, but when I'm driving around in southern Colorado I like to tune into 850 and 950 and listen to the Denver traffic reports.

It is getting worse and worse nowadays. People are driving so unpatient, many times I feel that the car behind me is so close to me and almost hit my car. I remembered that some Coloradans complain occasionally CA drivers driving aggressively, but poor me, surrounded by these CA drivers everyday.

I drive all over the country these days so I guess I'm used to the Front Range.
In SoCal, they are mostly good drivers. They go 50 in a 35 and let the crazy ones cross all lanes to go tearing off. That is so long as there isn't a traffic jam.
The most courteous drivers that I've seen to date are in Oregon from Portland to Salem.
In the parts of Michigan that I drove, they have 3-lane highways and big trucks have to stay out of the fast lane.
As much as I don't miss driving the Front Range so much, I do miss the culture there.

To get a different view of the development going north, go up 287. You will get a good view of the mountains, you can visit Louisville, Lafayette, Longmont, Berthoud, Loveland, and Fort Collins. This is a better way to understand the area and becoming familiar if you are new to the area.
You will drive through agricultural lands, new developments. You can stop and get fruit and vegetables along the road at some nice farmer's stands. You can have a nice leisurely lunch and you can get more of a composite view at a slower pace than taking I-25. Then on your way back to Denver, Take I-25 and see more of The Great Plains and you will have a nice day and learn about Colorado.
This will also get you familiar with other roads and many small towns. You can then realize it is not necessary to take I-25 to all destinations. Many people never get off the Highway and see other areas. In addition, you may find a place to live, a place to work, a place for recreation, that is accessible with local state, county, city routes and you can enjoy you life without worrying about I-25.
Do not tie yourself into a thought that I have to have a house along I-25 and I have to take I-25 to work and I have to take I-25 to everywhere I go---because there are other choices.

80mph ??? that is just too fast, that is why I avoid the highways and get out of the way. I am never in that much of a hurry. There are just too many drivers exceeding the speed limit and have no care or tolerance for others.
I am beyond being angry and aggravated by the problem; I just avoid the situation, and I can live content.
