I am looking at houses in Lonetree and noticed a little area called Acres Green with really cheap houses. What's the story?

They are older homes in Lone Tree closer to Park Meadows. Some of them are run down.

It used to be way the heck out there. Now it's not, but they were built in the 1970's and the elementary school left something to be desired. Close by is Highlands Ranch and the city of Lone Tree - both "nicer," "newer" and more expensive.

I know people who live there and they love it-seriously. professional people who say it's a great place, has a nice community and feel. Acres green elementary is supposed to be really nice, at least last time I heard about it.

A friend of mine lives there now. Overall he likes the area, it's a good location but has a few draw backs. He describes the rental area as the run down part of Acres Green. Most of the homes there are tri-level's without HOA's.

It is older and kind of run down compared with surrounding areas. It could be a good way to get into Douglas County Schools for cheap, if that's what you're looking for.

My family and I have lived in Acres Green for 10 years, and we love it. It is cheaper because some houses are a bit run down, but the trade off is low property taxes (we are unincorporated), no HOA nanny state (there is an HOA but it is voluntary), houses with space around them (rather than packed together like HR), good neighbors, great schools, and low crime. It is close to parks, trails, shopping, C470, I25. Great neighborhood for independent types.
