I am moving from Cambridge, MA to Denver and will be working near Washington Street at East 88th Avenue (North of Downtown). What neighborhoods/areas would you recommend to a recent college graduate interested in renting a room in vibrant area near work? How long would a commute be from these neighborhoods if I need to be at work at 7:00 and leave at 3:00? Any information would be helpful! Thank you!

And where do you work at?
I used to live right off of 88th and Washington..
I live in Federal Heights now..I like it better..
I work at IBM it usually takes me 35 to 45 min to get to work..depending on traffic..

Maybe I'm missing something, but I drive by that intersection daily and I'm not in love with the area. If you are working downtown though, it would be a fabulous commute. My express bus takes me to and from downtown daily in 15 min. I park at the Thornton Park n Ride, 84th and Grant.

My daughter has an apt. near 92nd and Wadsworth. I don't know about "vibrant", but she likes it well enough.

I used to live in the apts near 88th and Huron. Was a gr8 area for the party-going college student. IMO, that part of Thornton/Northglen is like Commerce City... without all the glitter.

What about the Stapleton area?

What do you mean by vibrant? You want to be close to nightlife? Hiking, trails? Or what?

I lived near that area when I first moved here, the first apt we were suppose to rent the lady refused to get out in time; so 5 days before we were moving from the East Coast to here I rented a townhouse in that area sight unseen. Jeez was I unhappy but we had to have a place to live.
Anyway I do not care for that area, it is on the border of being seedy especially in some areas. I also disllike trying to get off the highway on 84th and trying to get over to Washington.

I prefer North Thornton, above 120th but it is more of a family/shopping/suburban area. You can live in Denver if nightlife is more what you are looking for, the communte during those times of day should not be bad wether by car or bus. Westminster is a good area but the West to East drive along local roads can take some time.

But Wadsworth is really far from Washington - I mean 92nd and Wash and 92 and Wads are like totally different worlds IMHO.

That IS awkward! But for us bussers, it's awesome. Bus goes from downtown right onto HOV and straight to PnR on 84th. Nice!
