Question Searching for special education (Early On) and great schools

I am trying to obtain more information re. intermediate school districts. My husband's job is being transfered to Golden CO and I have NO idea where to begin searching for schools for my children, ages 4 & 2. We are currently living in MI and do not have much time before we start searching for homes. Would prefer a safe family friendly small town with affordable living. Husband willing to commute up to 30 miles out of Golden. Any suggestions?

Define affordable. Areas around Golden (in Jefferson County) are Arvada, Lakewood, Applewood, Wheat Ridge...

You can have suburban living or even rural mountain living.

We can afford a $160,000 home, which does not have to be in a sub. Open to rural living as well.

We live in Louisville in Boulder County. It is about 20-30 min to Golden. We are very happy with the Boulder Valley School District and Louisville was recently named one of the top places in the entire country to raise a family.

You will probaby have to buy a condo or a very small house. There is not much "rural" around Denver or even Golden except the mountains, and they tend to be more expensive.

Default What kind of home can I get for $175,000?

What kind of home can I get for $175,000? Good schools? Good neighborhoods? Thanks in advance for the suggestions. Although a condo sounds nice, I don't think it would work well for our family.
