Have you checked out Zillow for rentals? You can put more specifics in and move the map around to all those areas. It might not show all available properties. I've looked at some of the homes on Zillow for rent and then get the property management name and search their websites too, also rentals.com

I would definitely look for central heat, it can get cold and you don't want to deal with pipes bursting even if your renting. Even though many think AC isn't a necessity, it has been in or close to the 90's for about 6 weeks and sometimes opening windows just doesn't cut it! Happy house hunting!

I think I'm stealing Mike's thunder, but padmapper.com is a great way to locate rentals as well.

Arvada, Lakewood, Littleton in Arapahoe county might be the better choices.
I will definitely be looking at other areas too. However, those areas I listed came recommended from other people in these boards and also we know a few people who work in the same office downtown who live in Highlands Ranch and another couple who plans to buy in Parker. I plan on taking the light rail and I heard that the southern portion of DMA is better networked with light rail than other areas at this time.

Not unless you're really sensitive to heat. It can get pretty hot here at times, and not only that but the weather can change with the drop of a dime so it's good to be prepared if you're heat-intolerant.

Zillow, padmapper.com, leasing company websites...check, check, and check! Thank you for those suggestions! I knew it was a good idea to ask for advice in these boards. We have been looking at renals.com and homes.com but that's been it. Also, I am supposed to be hooked up with an agency called CORT through my relocation specialist. They are supposed to help find rentals, too. Still need to get in touch with them though...

LOL! I am heat intolerant! You can imagine how rough that must be for me living through this Bakersfield summer!

Choose to rent closer to work. Believe me, you'll thank me later.

Don't rent in far off places, just because your co-worker do, unless you are likely to carpool with them.

I cannot imagine a home w/o central heat in this area. We once lived in an older home in Champaign, Il that at one time just had a space heater in the living room; a pretty dumb idea for there as well. Back to Denver, there is just too much cold weather for that to be a workable situation.

Central heat is a requirement for living anywhere in Colorado, yes. You can physically survive in Denver without A/C, but A/C is a requirement if you want to be comfortable at home, especially if you live/sleep on an upper floor. Doesn't necessarily have to be central A/C, a bedroom window unit could probably do the trick. Anybody who thinks contrary is either a masochist or a total cheapskate, or both, IMO.

If the neighborhood allows, I like swamp coolers vs central air.
