So I am a soon-to-be licensed lawyer here in Texas and currently completing my LL.M. degree in Energy Law with a focus in Oil and Gas law. My wife initially wanted to live someplace where it was hot because we have lived in West Virginia for the past four years, but after experiencing the hottest summer on record ever here in Texas she has decided to give in and consider a city/state with four actual seasons and away from the threat of droughts and wildfires. My question is how hard is it for a young lawyer with minimal experience to break into the landman/attorney section of oil/gas, real estate, and construction law in Denver? I plan on taking the CO bar in either Feb or July 2012 and look forward to any constructive responses. Thanks in advance.

Let me change that to not so much minimal experience but my internships have focused more in environmental law and title real estate work. I really would like to go the oil and gas/title work route and grow as a lawyer from that point. I also have considered joining the Denver Petroleum Landman organization but you must be actively working as a landman for at least a year before you can join. I am a member of AAPL.

Please see my post to your duplicate post in another thread. Oil and gas is booming here.
