Just another sunny day in paradise. . .

Warming up, but still cold - snow's mostly gone on roads, but it'll be a while before it leaves grassy areas, and shady areas will hold on to the snow for many days. That's my take on it.

First sub-zero reading, -4F on Monday.

YTD snowfall: 24 inches.
Snow cover days: 15
Snow cover in the shade days: 38

13 days since last update, WOW.

Got about a generous 2 inches yesterday, more of a south thing (even metro). The stuff from the early December storms never finished melting (according to my Rosamond Park reference point). Soooooooo,

Snow cover in the shade days: 50!

Plume has probably been under there since Dec 1. The slushy junk on top of her hasn't melted at all. I presume she is under there, because her brothers and sisters are making themselves known in sunnier areas of the complex.

I would call it a "heavy dusting" in my Denver neighborhood. Not even a quarter inch.

I'm going to have to shovel it out of my yard/patio because it's on the north side of the house. Otherwise, I'm looking at this crap 'til March!

I'm flying back to the East Coast tomorrow. Hopefully my flight isn't canceled!

Good morning! We have about 8-10 inches so far in the south suburbs. I have a question and would love some opinions.

I have family driving north from NM today. The snow is moving toward them. Would you advise them to go ahead and drive up I25 or would you advise them to take 285 from Santa Fe? The weather outlook is much better up 285, but I 23 inches of snow is forecast for Bailey.

You could have them avoid Bailey via
-US 24 E to the Springs
-US 50 E to Pueblo
-US 160 E to Walsenburg

but it's anybody's guess as to what the conditions will be like in any of those areas. Check first, they might find more trouble than what they are trying to avoid.

I always go the most direct route, and deal with weather along the way. This is not the day to be traveling, unfortunately. The traffic guys on the radio here in Denver are advising people to stay home if possible. I saw plenty of accidents out there tonight.

According to TWC, we've had 7.5 inches/last 24 hours down here in the 80237. That's could be right, but it could be more.

It's a big snowstorm - what fun, for those of us *not* planning to travel.
