Default Need advice on neighborhood-W. Alameda/Morrison Road Area

Hello,

I am looking at a fixer upper in the area of West Alameda and Morrison Road. The specific streets are South Knox Court and W. Virginia Ave.

Is this a decent neighborhood. I can't afford a great area, but is safety and issue around here? I don't mind a blue collar area with some fixer uppers, but don't want to be shot either. I will be moving in January with a wife and daughter and don't want to drag them into a bad area.

A blue collar area with decent hard working people will suit us just fine.

I have bought a few fixers in that area - from Alameda to Hampden. I haven't had a problem with vandals or with renting/selling.

I was talking more along the lines of fixing and living there for a year or two. 2bindenver, I know you are a realtor, could you send me some comps for a 3/1 with 1100 square feet?? I would appreciate it.

There's some great ethnic neighborhoods and restaurants around there, with Vietnamese, Chinese, as well as many immigrants from Mexico and Latin America. There are some outstanding Asian grocery stores around there.

I think the proper name for the area you're considering is the Westwood neighborhood.

That being said, that's an area that I would have no problems visiting for its restaurants and markets, but I don't think I'd live around there personally, and yes, I do live in Denver. It's not exactly a ghetto, but it is on the tough side.
