I live in the area and don't oppose apartment development, or rather don't care enough to do anything about it, but can certainly understand the concern from people who own houses nearby that would be affected. What I can't understand is those who oppose it in the name of "quaintness."

Seems like that particular development is pretty well thought out, has sufficient parking, etc. 5 stories isn't exactly a monster, and as pointed out, allows others to live in the area who couldn't otherwise afford it.

Thank you! Why don't more of the reasonable people speak up! This is what I am talking about. Oppose something that is bad, sure. Freaking out about a decent project seems to be all too common in our area.

Yep ... in Boulder even some people who lived in trailer parks would come out and protest against apartments ... why? B/c they themselves wouldn't want to live in an apartment/condo building, so they figured it must be something bad.
