I'm from Ft. Collins, but recently moved to Vegas in hopes of working on the strip and/or being a cocktail server. Long story short, things aren't going quite as planned and it has made me consider working in Blackhawk instead. There are too many on-call positions in Vegas (off-strip casinos included), and I just need to make some real cash to pay back student loans. Whether or not I would get a job in BH, what are my options as far as living goes? Doesn't the highway to central city close frequently during bad weather?

Also, if anyone on here works at a casino in Blackhawk have any tips/words of advice to share, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Most people who work in Blackhawk or Central City live in the Denver area. Most drive, but there are bus companies that take customers to the casinos.

I'd say 90% of them live in Golden, Lakewood, etc.

I've been up there during snowstorms, and have never had trouble getting in or out (there are at least two ways back to I-70, and another way straight to Golden).

Hardly any housing in Blackhawk/ Central City; almost everybody there commutes. Maybe Idaho Springs might be the closest town that's feasible to live in if you want to stay in the mountains; otherwise you'll probably want to live in Golden or nearby.
