I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself, I just had the pleasure of visiting Denver, Boulder and Estes Park last month for the first time in my life and I fell in love, I've been wanting to move out of Florida for the past few years but being the picky woman that I am (aren't we all)...nothing has jumped out at me, until I visited Colorado...I'm currently living in the Tampa/St. Pete area of Florida and orginally from Brooklyn, NYC...I will be in Denver by March/April 2012 the latest and I have to say I am totally stoked...so hello future neighbors, I know two people up there and that's it...selling everything I own, saving every dime and at 32 years old for the first time I'm moving somewhere completely new and on my own...so hi!

Good luck, I also moved from Florida (Daytona Beach) over a year ago and haven't looked back since. This area is pretty awesome in general

I'm 31yo male and moving from Atlanta to Denver in the next month. I'm excited about Colorado in general because there are a lot of people there that want to not just live, but fly. Lots of go getters and entrepreneurs moving into that state and I'm excited. I can't wait to live somewhere where 80% of population doesn't walk with a chip on shoulder, and chooses to live...

I've been browsing these City Data forums of many different cities and it seems as though Florida is the hands-down winner for emigrants. I wonder why that is.

Doesn't seem that way based on license plates though. The top 2 in Denver for sure are California and Texas

I actually have a girlfriend who is moving from the same area with her boyfriend to Colorado Springs in January, a lot of people from Florida have been trying to get out, majority of people I know moved towards the Carolina's or Virginia...however I have been online meeting a slew of people from Florida who are moving out or have moved out to Colorado...I have to agree it looks like a lot of Californian's have moved out there but I am seeing a lot of people from the south moving west...like myself and I can't wait!

Having been on this site for 5.5 years now, what I've learned is that people leaving FL are heading up to TN and NC, some to SC and GA. Reason for many of them is the heat and bugs of FL, the high prices, the crowds, and the snowbirds in winter who clog the place.

Many of these people moved from the northeast to FL when they retired, found it was not to their liking and moved north a few states; they refer to these people as "half-backs" for having moved half way back to the northeast. Central and western NC has a nice climate, affordable prices, a lot of amenities and you can still get to the ocean for your fix of salt air and seafood.

We left the DC area for COLO to get away from the humidity, bugs, gridlock and high prices, only going back for crabcakes and funerals.
